Antarctiscarf

Three records in scarf form of where it was colder – New York or Antarctica – during winter 2023. AWI Research Associate Lija Treibergs was deployed to Antarctica in winter 2023 to work in the dry valleys at McMurdo. During that winter we hosted a make-a-long to commemorate Lija’s trip and create records of a daily temperature comparison between New York and Antarctica. Each artist created their own representation but generally the darker rows are colder in New York State days and the lighter rows are days when it was colder in Antarctica. Antarctica’s summer is December to February and so New York was able to hold its own in the who is colder competition. Michale Glennon, Michalene Glennon, Nadia Harvieux.
