Aquatic Invasive Species Program Director

Brett started working for the AWI in the summer of 2015 as a diver on the aquatic invasive species management team. From 2017 to 2019, he worked as both a diver and the teams crew leader, where he was responsible for overseeing daily dive operations. This team specialized in the underwater hand removal of aquatic invasive plants from lakes and pond in the northern Adirondack region. In August of 2019, Brett became a full time AWI team member, working with the Aquatic Invasive Species Spread Prevention Program (AISSPP), also referred to as the Stewardship Program. Hired as the Watercraft Decontamination Program Manager, Brett oversaw all aspects of hiring, training seasonal staff and managing the associated boat wash stations and equipment. Brett now serves as the Aquatic Invasive Species Program Director, where he oversees recruitment, staff on boarding, training, and field operations.
Brett has a strong interest and appreciation for outdoor recreation, to include, boating, fishing, hunting, hiking and SCUBA diving. He is a certified NYS fishing guide and head coach for the Paul Smith's College bass fishing team. He lives in Vermontville, NY with his wife, Colleen and two children, Easton and Kellyanne.
