Lake Champlain Data Art – Hands-On Workshop

Join Michale Glennon, AWI Senior Research Scientist and organizer of the Wool and Water Project currently on view in the North Branch Nature Center gallery, for a fun, hands-on workshop on translating watershed data into art. Participants will use felt balls to visually represent data from the lake while learning about the Lake Champlain watershed. Participants will work collaboratively on a large project that will be displayed at NBNC for the rest of the Wool and Water show, then create a small individual project to take home.

We’ll go over safety and paddling before we embark on an interpretive trip around the Oxbow, a unique, natural formation found in rivers around the world. Catch a glimpse of native wildlife and learn about the natural history of the Adirondacks. This trip is geared to all paddling skill levels.

Join AWI Senior Research Scientist, Dr. Michale Glennon for a presentation of two research reports: Pathways of Invasion, and Efficacy of Boat Stewards and New York State Regulations at Enhancing Visitor Adoption of Aquatic Invasive Species Spread Prevention Strategies, which detail efforts to understand the impact of aquatic invasive species on Adirondack Waterbodies.
