Stephen Langdon is the Director of Shingle Shanty Preserve and Research Station and a consulting ecologist with Borealis Consulting, L.L.C. He is a long-time collaborator with the Adirondack Watershed Institute and is involved in wide-ranging projects from conservation easement documentation to wetland ecology and conservation projects. He has worked with wide-ranging, local and national organizations including The Nature Conservancy, NYS Adirondack Park Agency, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, NY Natural Heritage Program and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. His principal research focuses on peatland plant community ecology and he has published peer-reviewed scientific in Wetlands, Rhodora, and PLOS ONE. Steve has a BA in Philosophy and a BS in Ecology from SUNY Plattsburgh as well as a MS in Ecology from SUNY ESF. Prior to entering a career in Science, he worked in the Adirondack High Peaks Wilderness Area as a backcountry ranger and trail builder with NYSDEC for over a decade.
